The Bonderman Team/College of LSA is still reviewing the fellowship and how/if the COVID-19 pandemic may impact the fellowship. The Bonderman Fellowship application is quite a strange one. You don’t provide a transcript or resume; no one asks for you to describe your prior work experience or list your specific grades. Instead, you must 1) write an essay about how this Fellowship would impact your life, and 2) propose a theme for your travels along with a possible itinerary that addresses this theme. Bonderman’s daughter and her husband are both University graduates, and it was their idea to start the fellowship in Bonderman’s name. Plans for the pilot program began in September 2013, and the first class of fellows was notified in April 2014. The Bonderman Fellowship began at the University of Washington in 1995 with a donation from David Bonderman. Before headlining his successful career, Mr. Bonderman graduated from Harvard Law school as a Sheldon Fellow, allowing him unstructured time to study and travel globally.
